Multicultural Programs in Schools

AFL NSW/ACT is committed to growing the game within our diverse communities. Several programs have been developed for schools with a high portion of students from Language Backgrounds Other Than English (LOTE).

AFL NSW/ACT aims to engage primary schools with a LOTE percentage of 70% or greater across the state to introduce a new sport to people of diverse backgrounds. The four week program runs all year round and focuses on football activities which build on the child’s fine and gross motor skills. The program also incorporates themes around fair play, team work, harmony and leadership. It is recommended to apply for Sporting Schools funding to cover the cost of these programs.

Delivered by AFL staff who are culturally sensitive and aware, this program is about breaking down barriers and giving students from high LOTE schools the opportunities to participate and support Australian Football.
