AUSKICK

JUNIOR FOOTBALL & YOUTH GIRLS
Junior Football provides opportunities for boys and girls to play AFL in a local club environment together from the ages of 10-14. Competition levels increase with age to continue to develop player skills.
Youth Girls competitions are female specific competitions aimed at introducing new players to AFL and continuing the pathway for females aged 13 to 18 years.
Youth Girls Competitions in NSW and the ACT
AFL Sydney Juniors – Youth Girls
Sydney Harbour and GWS are the largest youth aged female competitions in NSW and provides opportunities for both new and experienced players.
- U15 competition (Division 1 and Division 2) – core focus of participation and introduction.
- U18 competition (Division 1 and Division 2) – transitions the girls to full field, full rules AFL.
In 2017, AFL: Sydney Juniors will launch an U12 Girls Competition aimed at introducing new players to AFL and providing a pathway for U9 female Auskick participants to transition into club football. Save the date: Sunday, April 2, 2017 for the Gala Day that will launch the U12 season.

AFL Hunter Coast – Hunter and Central Coast Juniors
The AFL Hunter Coast (AFLHC) is the junior league across the Hunter Coast and Central Coast (94 teams over 19 clubs). The League is broken down into 2 competitions – the Hunter Coast Juniors and the Central Coast Juniors. In 2017, both competitions will have a second girls age to provide a pathway between Auskick and Junior/Youth Competitions

AFL North Coast Youth Girls (13-17)
In 2017, a Youth Girls Competition will commence, with AFL staff identifying 4 clubs for team entries.
Open Women’s competitions
AFL NSW/ACT has multiple women’s leagues operating across the state and Territory providing home and away weekly competitions. Females aged 16 and above are encouraged to contact their nearest club and give the game a go. AFL NSWACT also encourages females to get involved in AFL as administrators, coaches, umpires and sports trainers.
AFL Canberra With 9 teams based in Canberra and the Riverina Lions in Wagga Wagga, AFL continues to grow and engage more women in the competition. The season traditionally commences in April however clubs are welcoming of players all year round. More information on the league is available here.

AFL Sydney Women consists of 16 teams competing across two divisions with teams representing Penrith, Gosford, Wollongong and many suburbs in between. The Black Diamond Women’s competition is continues to strengthen and provides an opportunity for female to play AFL with their local teams. A strong community competition the competition invites all interested females to come and try the game.
