The Diversity Talent Program is a FREE initiative which aims to identify male and female athletes aged 12-15 from Indigenous or Multicultural backgrounds (a parent born overseas). The top participants take part in talent camps that include elements of high-level coaching combined with cultural and education sessions.
A select few players are nominated for the National Indigenous and Multicultural representative teams.
The AFL covers the cost of travel, accommodation and meals for the testing days and talent camps to remove barriers and ensure everyone has an opportunity to take part in the program.
Indigenous Talent Program
Players from the Sydney Swans Academy and GWS GIANTS Academy as well as our junior competitions are invited to nominate to participate in our male and female Youth Leadership program.
AFL NSW/ACT want to build strong young leaders by giving them the opportunity to participate and learn new skills in all aspects in life and to then take these skills back to their communities and share their knowledge.
Talent Camps – Once nominations and acceptances are complete, 30 participants will take part in talent camps which involves elite coaching as well as cultural, educational and wellbeing sessions. The camps aim to identify not only the most talented footballers, but also those with good values who are willing to learn and adapt.
This program also provides an additional pathway to elite sporting opportunities. The best athletes will progress to our national Woomeras and Boomerangs program.
